This unit develops a framework for the development of a philosophy of mission and a missionary vision and strategy for the local church.

John Piper states the Church exists to worship God. But because not all humankind worships Him, missions exist to introduce people to their Maker, so they will worship Him! The local church is central to reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and should understand its identity and task within God’s universal plan.

The Bible, especially the New Testament, gives us a good understanding of the principles of the Church, its role in reaching the world, and some principles in missionary methods. This course will integrate current missiological discussions while staying grounded in Scripture.
